Big Agnes Blacktail 4

The Big Agnes Blacktail 4 is a 4-person lightweight tent from the Blacktail series. The Blacktail 4 is a solid value-for-money as you'd like to see them more often, offering room for 4 people or lots of room for three. With a height of 127cm, the Blacktail 4 feels very spacious and would also be a good option for trekking holidays by car. The material of the outer tent is a standard polyester with a PU coating, solid and reliable. Of course, lighter materials exist, but this choice delivers great value for money.

The design of the Blacktail 4 is thoughtful. The outer tent is not cut too high so that the outer tent reaches close to the ground. Combined with a solid height of the closed section of the inner tent, this makes the Blacktail 4 a great 3-season tent. The higher placed mesh in the inner tent does provide super ventilation in warm conditions, especially in combination with the 2 high placed ventilation vents in the outer tent. Condensation will be almost non-existent. The inner tent is almost square. With a 229cm width and 244cm length, Big Agnes conceived this tent as a transverse sleeper. But with three people, you're more likely to use the Blacktail 4 simply as a longitudinal sleeper, but with 244cm main length. The awnings are just slightly wider from the smaller variants in the Blacktail series with 81cm of awning space on either side. The Blacktail 4 is a still a lightweight tent, but with a weight of 3.54kg you're opting more for comfort, than a really low weight. In particular, this many-sided 4-person tent will make many motorcyclists and active car campers very happy.
